Sock It Away Draws Off At Red Shores
There was no stopping Sock It Away on Boxing Day (Dec. 26) at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at Charlottetown Driving Park.
With Corey MacPherson picking up the drive for trainer Kevin MacLean, the sophomore colt powered away from his foes in the $2,400 Preferred Pace, stopping the clock in 1:56 by over six open lengths. Tempo Seelster (Ken Murphy) sat in the pocket behind Sock It Away for the duration of the mile and finished second, while Burn Out Hanover (Kenny Arsenault) completed the triactor.
Reg MacPherson holds the ownership papers of Sock It Away, who celebrated win number 19 of the season from 20 starts.
Talented rookie driver Drew Neill continued a very productive December with three wins on the 15-race program. Neill started the action off in race one, finishing first in a dead heat with Bettim Vicky in 2:02.1 for trainer Jeff Lilley. Selfie (Murphy) and Betti, Vicky both put their noses on the wire together for the win. Neill also visited the winner’s circle with Southfield Sassy after a 2:00.3 win for trainer Tom Weatherbie. His third win of the day came in the $2,350 Open Mares class with a 1:57.4 victory with Collective Wisdom for trainer Jackie Matheson and owner Bruce Wood over Prettyndangerous (David Dowling) and Malabrigo (Marc Campbell).
Marc Campbell had a pair of winners from his own Charlottetown stable, scoring a maiden win with Navy Pilot Hanover in 2:03.3 and the $1,800 Handicap Trot with Freddie in 2:03.4.

Congratulations to Sock It
Congratulations to Sock It Away, PEI's 2018 sophomore pacer of the year and (in a tie with Always A Prince) the winningest 3 year old in North America in 2018. I look forward to watching him race next summer in The Gold Cup & Saucer.
