Tahiti Seelster Back In Fraser Spotlight
Tahiti Seelster scored her sixth Open victory of the Fraser Downs meet as she defeated Lady Elements champion Thats It in Friday evening's affair.
A winner of five straight Opens from September through November, Tahiti Seelster's streak ended in the Lady Elements when she finished second in the elimination and fourth in the late-November final behind Thats It.
Back in action tonight in the $12,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace, Tahiti Seelster set out for the lead as usual and carved out panels of :26.4, :55.4 and 1:23.4 before holding off her rival by a head in 1:53.1. Thats It, favoured at even-money, had closed from last of five to place while You Name It came within a half-length to show.
David Hudon was in the sulky for trainer Nelson Craig, who also co-owns with Richard Craig.
Tahiti Seelster paid $6.20 to win as the 2-1 second choice.
The five-year-old daughter of Up The Credit now sports a seasonal record reading 11-4-2 from 18 starts and earnings upwards of $84,000 on the year.
