Racing To Remain In Saint John
Horse Racing New Brunswick (HRNB) President Brock McEachern is pleased to announce that a deal has been reached between his organization and the Saint John Exhibition (SJ EX) that will keep horse racing alive and well in the city for the foreseeable future.
“This is wonderful news for horse racing in New Brunswick,” McEachern said. “On behalf of Horse Racing New Brunswick, I want to thank the Saint John Exhibition group for all their hard work. We are looking forward to working together into the future.”
HRNB and SJ EX agreed to terms on a new lease that will keep the races at the Exhibition grounds. The new lease is for three years, a move which McEachern said will significantly help horse racing in the province. “We had been negotiating on a yearly basis, which meant we were always waiting to see what happens next. The stability in this new lease will allow us to focus on growing and improving horse racing as a sport in New Brunswick.”
McEachern also said that HRNB is looking forward to the upcoming racing year, with 17 race days currently scheduled in Saint John.
“At the end of the day, we were happy to be able to work out a deal SJ EX. We found a solution that works for everyone,” he said. “The future of harness racing is stable for the next three years.”
