Drunkonaplane Flies In Preferred
Kicking towards the centre of the track from fourth over, Drunkonaplane soared to a six-length victory in the $8,500 Preferred 3 Pace at Flamboro Downs on Sunday, Dec. 2.
The Craig Gilmour trainee sat seventh as Redonkulous led to a :27.4 opening quarter with Par Intended occupying the pocket. Boomboom Ballykeel, leaving from post seven, could not clear control and raced uncovered alongside the leader heading to a :57.1 half.
Drunkonaplane angled into the cover flow moving to the clubhouse turn and fanned wide into the backstretch as Redonkulous continued on a length-and-a-half lead. By three-quarters in 1:26.3, Drunkonaplane recouped four lengths to take the lead rounding the final turn and quickly owned a four-length lead into the stretch. Par Intended took over second and chased the four-year-old Rock N Roll Heaven gelding to the wire in the 1:55.2 mile while Dreydl Hanover, off a rail trip, snagged third.
Owned by ICR Racing, Drunkonaplane won his sixth race from 28 starts this season and his 12th from 54 overall, earning $98,330. Brett MacDonald steered the $7.00 winner.
