Mohawk Park To Honour Gale
On Wednesday (Nov. 21), Woodbine Mohawk Park announced that a moment of silence in memory of Bill Gale will be held prior to Thursday evening's (Nov. 22) races.
The moment of silence will take place at approximately 6:55 p.m. Horsepeople and industry participants are invited to gather in the winner's circle for the moment of silence.
Gale passed away on Monday (Nov. 19) at the age of 70. The Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Famer won 6,375 races and drove the winners of more than $42 million during his incredible career.
In 1991, Gale was named Canadian Driver of the Year following a $3.2 million season, which included two Breeders Crown victories (King Conch, Three Wizards). He posted 16 consecutive $1 million seasons from 1982 to 1997.
Gale was inducted into the Windsor/Essex County Sports Hall of Fame in 2000 and the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame in 2015.
Thursday's edition of Woodbine Racing Live will feature a video on Gale prior to the moment of silence.
