Chillaxin Away Seeks More DSBF Glory
On this day of flags and salutes to all of our soldiers past and present, the two-year-old colt and gelding pacers in the Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund Stakes kicked off the Dover Downs series under cloudy skies.
The first $20,000 division was raced as an early non-wagering event. The winner from the Harrington series, Chillaxin Away (sired by Roddys Bags Again), trained by Jim King Jr. and driven by Tim Tetrick, got up by a nose to edge out Dashiki (Barber Pole) and driver Montrell Teague in 1:55.2. The last half was clocked in :56.1.
The first race and DSBF division on the wagering card was won gate-to-wire by Keepmywiglegametyt (Mr Wiggles) in 1:54.2 for driver Montrell Teague and trainer Clyde Francis. Son Of A Lynx (Southwind Lynx) followed in second for driver Russell Foster and Numbered Account (Roddys Bags Again) was the show horse driven by Jeff Fout.
Round two will be held next Monday, Nov. 19. The final will be contested on Thursday,
Nov. 29 in conjunction with the Dover signature event, the Hap Hansen Progress Pace, named
for the late Brandywine Raceway President.
