Arch Madness Leads Credit Winner Field
Eight male trotters have dropped in to take their shot at the $187,000 Credit Winner trot on Friday, September 18 at Vernon Downs and leading the way is double millionaire Arch Madness
, who will be piloted by trainer Trond Smedshammer from post position No. 2. The five-year-old son of Balanced Image-Armbro Archer is coming off a second place finish in the Breeder’s Crown to superstar Lucky Jim, and then a miscue in the Open Trot at Yonker’s Raceway on September 4 as the 2-5 betting favourite. Arch Madness has posted three wins in 14 seasonal starts for Marc Goldberg and Willow Pond LLC both of New York, with earnings of more than $465,000.
Lanson and Mike Lachance will also be looking to continue their success as the Self Possessed-M Stewart son has had a career year at the age of five. Don Swick trains Lanson for Royal Wire Products Inc of Ohio. Lanson has five wins to his name in fifteen seasonal starts and has banked over $285,000 of his $412,691 in 2009.
Local superstar Scorpion Moon will look to defend his turf with Tim Tetrick in the bike for trainer and co-owner Tracy Brainard. The eight-year-old son of Armbro Scorpion-Angies Nugget is coming off a 1:53.4 victory in the Open Trot at Vernon Downs with Tetrick on Labour Day where the trotter posted a final panel in :27.1. Scorpion Moon had seventeen victories last year and over $229,000 in earnings with a mark of 1:52.4 at Pocono Downs. This year he has three wins and five seconds to his name with more than $86,000 in earnings and the seasonal mark of 1:53.4, which was set in his last start.
Vivid Photo and Roger Hammer set the track and all age trot record in the 2007 edition of the Credit Winner in 1:52.1 with American Lane and Cat Manzi taking home the championship in 2008.
Also featured on the Friday night card in the third and final leg of the Miss Versatility trotting series before the ladies head for the final at the Delaware County Fair on Jug Day (Thursday, September 24). Only four dropped in the box that includes morning line favourite Lavec Dream (Yannick Gingras), who captured the 2006 edition of the Miss Versatility at the Delaware County Fair in a major upset.
