Mach It So Strolls In Yonkers Open
Mach It So bottomed out his four rivals Saturday, Nov. 10, winning Yonkers Raceway’s $44,000 Open Handicap Pace.
Leaving outside his foes—and in one notch after a defection—Mach It So seemingly had a three-length lead four steps out the gate. He then did the required roadwork, posting splits of :27, :55.3 and 1:22.4 in progress to a 1:51.4 mile with no competition. Bettor Memories did edge a loosely-pocketed 6-5 favourite Great Vintage for second—beaten two-and-a-half lengths—with Techtor Hanover and Im Some Graduate completing the order of payees.
For second choice Mach It So, a double-millionaire Mach Three gelding owned by Bamond Racing and trained by Jeff Bamond Jr., it was his ninth win in 27 starts this season (career 49-for-147). Driven by Joe Bongiorno, he paid $8.00 to win. The exacta paid $37, with triple and superfecta wagering cancelled due to field size, or lack thereof.
