Supersport Repeats In Flamboro Feature
Another week, another pillar-to-post performance for Supersport.
Nurko Sokolovic and Craig Barss' Supersport ($2.20) continued on his tear since re-entering the Barss stable at the beginning of October, reeling off his third win in five starts in Wednesday evening's (Nov. 7) featured $7,800 top-level conditioned pace at Flamboro Downs.
Brett MacDonald wasted no time with the three-year-old Sportswriter gelding, gunning him to the front from post 4 through a :27.2 first quarter before pulling back the pace through uncontested middle splits of :57 and 1:26.2. On the far turn, they opened up 2-1/2 lengths of separation over pocket rival Casimir Rumrunner (Paul MacKenzie), ultimately prevailing by half that margin. Shifty Leo (Doug Bowins) rallied belatedly to take third, another 5-3/4 lengths back.
Supersport earned his fourth career win in 1:55.4, which took three-fifths of a second off his previous lifetime mark earned one week ago.
