Nebraska Jack Cruises In Preferred Trot
Tried as they might, no one could get close enough to seriously threaten Nebraska Jack in the featured $11,500 Preferred 2 & 3 Handicap Trot on Monday night (November 5) at The Raceway at Western Fair District.
Crossing to command immediately from the outside post six, Nebraska Jack cruised wire-to-wire for driver Colin Kelly. The five-year-old Cantab Hall gelding set fractions of :28.4, :59.2 and 1:28.3 on his way to a three-length victory in 1:59.2. Ionia could get no closer than 1-1/2 lengths following in the pocket spot and ended up third as All Out Henry came three-wide around the stalled first-up favourite, Scene A Magician, to finish second.
Steve Bossence trains Nebraska Jack, who was a $12,000 claim on September 6 at Woodbine Mohawk Park by Stable Twenty Three Inc. The trotter has won half of his six starts since with two runner-up finishes.
Amazing Perch won the $8,500 Preferred 3 Pace, defeating popular pacesetter Champagne Phil by more than three lengths in 1:56.1 for trainer/driver George Ketros and owner Colonel Schneider Jr.
