Classic Banker Cashes In Preferred
Not intimidated by his millionaire rival, Classic Banker challenged Wind Of The North first over and went on to spring a 6-1 upset in the $18,000 Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows on Monday, Oct. 29.
Wind Of The North reached the $1-million milestone in his last race and seemed poised to pad that bankroll after a comfortable :29.4 second quarter. But Classic Banker and Brady Brown had other ideas, drawing even with Wind Of The North into the final turn and putting him away in deep stretch. The eight-year-old Classic Photo-Bankers Review gelding scored in 1:55.4 while the pocket-sitting Chef Lee shot through the open stretch for place a length bank. Wind Of The North saved show.
Joe Urban trains and owns Classic Banker, who won his second straight and vaulted over $200,000 in career earnings.
Dave Palone piloted three winners on the 13-race card, including a pair for trainer Marcus Marashian.
