Flying Isa N Soars In Preferred
Stephane Brosseau ripped Flying Isa N off cover from third over moving into the stretch and shot by all competition to take the $8,100 Preferred Trot at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Sunday, Oct. 21 in 1:57.3.
Pasadena Star set the tempo, trotting splits of :29.1, :58.3 and 1:27.3 on the lead. Upvote Hanover, positioned fourth, began a first-over bid heading to the half and carried Neon Lights into contention second over with Flying Isa N tracking. Neon Lights circumvented Upvote Hanover faltering around the final turn and took control from Pasadena Star in the stretch. But Brosseau launched Flying Isa N by his cover nearing the wire and extended to a length-and-three-quarter victory. Neon Lights held second from Pasadena Star third.
A 10-year-old gelding by Pegasus Spur, Flying Isa N won his eighth race in 31 starts this season and his 34th in 130 overall, earning $527,851. Yves Tessier trains the $6.90 winner for owner Francois Morin.
Machin A Trick powered first over towards command nearing the final turn and endured a stretch bid from Silverado to take the $8,100 Preferred Pace by a head in 1:56.
Driver Jonathan Lachance positioned the four-year-old Mach Three gelding sixth through a :27.2 quarter set by Spirit Shadow parking Wildcat Cam on the lead. Spirit Shadow dropped his challenger into the pocket heading to a :56.4 half while Lachance pulled Machin A Trick off the rail and pushed for the lead past a 1:25.4 third-quarter.
Machin A Trick owned a two-length lead into the stretch as Silverado, from third over, vaulted off his cover towards the leader late. Machin A Trick maintained control through the wire while Silverado settled for second ahead of Rose Run Slider, from second over, taking third.
Owned by Gestion Marc Lemay Inc., Machin A Trick won his third race from 22 starts this season and his sixth from 47 overall, earning $177,483. Marc Simoneau trains the $7.90 winner.
