Ride Away Shark Repeats At Flamboro
Beating this group a week ago, Ride Away Shark returned to the $10,500 Fillies and Mares Preferred 2 Pace with a four-and-three-quarter length wire-to-wire victory as the 6-5 favourite on Saturday, Oct. 20 at Flamboro Downs.
The six-year-old mare by Classic Card Shark took control from post six with rail-starter Neon Moon sitting pocket through a :28 opening quarter. Sing Like An Angel, positioned fourth, attempted to challenge first over when tipping off the rail past the :57.4 half but parked to three-quarters in 1:26.4.
Ride Away Shark began to separate from the field moving into the final turn and kicked clear of Sing Like An Angel and Neon Moon battling three lengths away for third and fourth respectively. Hp Sissy, sitting third at the rail, came through the passing lane to take second.
Owned by Kimberley McNiven and Thomas Brodhurst, Ride Away Shark won her eighth race in 27 starts this season and her 23rd in 137 overall, earning $320,205. Trained by Scott McNiven and driven by Travis Henry, she paid $4.40 to win.
