Makes Me Stupid Upsets At Inverness
Anthony Beaton's Makes Me Stupid ($12.00) overcame an extended first-over journey to upend pacesetter Bonnys Mac in the featured $1,000 winners-over pace on a crisp Sunday afternoon (Oct. 7) at Inverness Raceway.
Away fourth in the compact field of five, Makes Me Stupid and driver Rodney Gillis started their first-over ascent nearing the completion of a 1:00.1 half by pacesetter Bonnys Mac (Lanny Hanscombe). The pair duelled through a :29.2 third quarter, and Makes Me Stupid edged away upon cornering for home. Accelerating all the way to the winning post, Makes Me Stupid recorded a one-length victory over Bonnys Mac in 1:58.3, while Tipperbackjack (Redmond Doucet) gave chase to finish third from the pocket.
It was the fifth seasonal victory for Makes Me Stupid and the 25th of his career. For Gillis, the featured win capped a driving hat trick on the six-race card.
