Goliath Reigns Repeats At Exhibition Park
Despite his recent form spree and dominance over the Saint John oval, Goliath Reigns was not sent off as the favourite in Saturday's (Sept. 29) feature event at Exhibition Park Raceway.
Instead, the betting public was seemingly seduced by the younger and fresher Ultimatelyhandsome off his back-to-back 1:57.2 miles over Truro Raceway.
It would appear that Goliath Reigns was not impressed.
Sent to the point in the $1,350 Winners Over feature by driver Todd Trites, Goliath Reigns cleared to the top through a :28 opening panel and then faced off against favoured Ultimatelyhandsome (Scott Hubbard) through a :58.4 half and 1:28 third panel. Goliath Reigns successfully dismissed that rival and powered away to a five-length score in 1:59.2. Ultimatelyhandsome stayed for second with pocket sitter Bugger Max (Mark Haig) unable to keep up with the front pair in third.
Owned by trainer Dawn Ellis Abbott, 10-year-old Goliath Reigns (Goliath Bayama - Tiger Reigns) has five wins on the season with four of those coming in his last five starts -- all in the Winners Over class at EPR. His earnings inched closer to the $100,000 plateau, currently sitting at $98,155.
