Richardson Scores A Six-Pack At Hanover
It was Bruce Richardson night at Hanover Raceway on Saturday. The 39-year-old Arthur, Ont. resident won a total of six of the 11 races
.
Richardson got things rolling in the opener winning with Just Being A Boy (1:59.3) for trainer Dan Creighton, and continued with wins aboard Winsum Princess (2:00.4) in Race 3 for Paul Taylor, Miss McIntosh (1:59.2) in Race 4 and Time Travelin Man (1:58.4) in Race 5, both for James Watt. Richardson also scored with the John Kennedy-trained Oakley Seelster (1:57.4) in Race 8 and then teamed with Taylor again to win Race 9 in rein to Northern Ace (1:56.4).
The six wins moved Richardson into first place for wins this season at Hanover with 43, one more than Trevor Henry. Henry and third place winning driver Scott Zeron were in Sarnia Saturday night, as part of the Slots Cup final program at Hiawatha Horse Park.
After his sixth win, Richardson said he knew he had a lot of good horses tonight with Henry and Zeron in Sarnia, but he didn’t expect to win six of the first nine. The modern day record for wins on one card at the track, is eight shared by Richardson and Henry.
Next Saturday night's card includes six miniature horses competing in a quarter mile dash, along with the 11 regular standardbred races. There are just three weeks left in the Hanover Raceway season, which concludes on Saturday October 3 with a special afternoon post time of 1:30 p.m. Post time Saturday, September 19 is 7:15 p.m.
