Custard The Dragons Dominate At Fraser
Youngsters were in the spotlight once again at Fraser Downs, as the oval hosted four divisions of stake events for the during its Thursday evening program.
Two splits of the Mary Murphy Breeders Stake for three-year-old pacing fillies went postward following a set of divisions of the Robert Millbank Memorial Breeders Stake for two-year-old pacing colts and geldings.
Bettor Cat broke his maiden with a 1:55.3 triumph in his $15,000 division of the Robert Millbank Memorial Breeders Stake.
Trainer/driver Jim Marino rallied the rookie to the win by 2-1/4 lengths over Mc Twisted. Kootenay Mystery took home the show dough.
Marino shares ownership on the son of Bettors Delight-Cats Meow with J J J Stables of Prince George, BC.
Rockin N Talkin also found his way to victory for the first time thanks to his 1:56 triumph in the second division.
Once again it was trainer/driver Jim Marino rallying the freshman to the win by 1-1/2 lengths over Major Winker. Livin Large took home the third prize in the $15,000 affair.
The son of Custard The Dragon-Shes Just Rockin is also owned by Marino and the J J J Stables of Prince George, BC.
Nice Aint My Color produced a second consecutive victory thanks to her 1:56 triumph in the first division of the Mary Murphy Breeders Stake for sophomore pacing fillies.
Serge Masse hustled her to the lead, and after chopping out panels of :28, :58.3 and 1:27.3 she managed to slip home in :28.2 to win by a length over Marilyn. Rounding out the top three finishers was Hanks Mystress.
Wild Dunes Stables of Delta, BC own the daughter of Custard The Dragon-Art Amour. Richard Lancaster trains the six-time winner who pushed her lifetime earnings close to $60,000 with the win.
It’s now three-in-a-row and counting for Custard Lite, who swept to the lead in the late stages of the mile and drew clear to win comfortably in 1:55 for driver Preston Shaw.
Making her debut for trainer Gordon Abbott, the daughter of Custard The Dragon-Enlightened One defeated Scardy Cat and Ynothos.
The eight-time winner pushed her career earnings past $100,000 for Alberta partners Lorne Duffield and Rod Hennessy.
