Round Barn Fundraiser Set For Oct. 1

The annual fundraiser to support the preservation of the historic Round Barn adjacent to the Red Mile will be held Monday night, Oct. 1, from 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. at the Barn. That's the night before the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale begins.

This year's event, which is open to the public, will feature a silent auction of an assortment of harness racing memorabilia, a variety of merchandise, plus live music, cocktails and hors d'oeuvres.

The historic white Round Barn was originally a floral exhibit hall and thus known as Floral Hall. At one time it was also used for stabling horses, with caretakers living on the top floor of the three-story structure. Today it is a permanent repository for harness racing memorabilia, art and books about the sport. The building is also used for events.

All are invited to support the Round Barn by attending the fundraiser party. Tickets are $45 per person and can be purchased via squareup.

The Round Barn is formally known as the Stable of Memories, which oversees the building. Although adjacent to the Red Mile racetrack, the barn is not owned by the track and is supported solely through The Stable of Memories, a 501c 3 organization.
