The top stakes pacers on the Eastern Seaboard of Canada converged on Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park for a doubleheader of P.E.I. Colt Stakes action with a number of win streaks on the line.

Magical Mistress saw her streak live to see another day on the afternoon card as she won a $6,900 P.E.I. Colt Stakes division for her seventh win from as many starts in her career. The two-year-old pacing filly was guided to the wire in 1:56.2 by driver Adam Merner for trainer Stephen Gass and owner Barry Martin of Sydney, N.S.

Therealdeal also had her win streak remain intact in another two-year-old pacing filly division for a $6,900 pot. Walter Cheverie supplied the 1:57.2 victory for trainer Joe Baxter and owners Jennifer Baxter and Gregory Francis of Windsor, N.S.

Arc Light also captured a two-year-old pacing filly division in 1:59.4 for trainer-driver Marc Campbell and owner Grayland Farm of Pugwash, N.S.

Two-year-old pacing colt divisional leader Woodmere Bolt did not see his win streak through on the P.E.I Colt Stakes program. The $6,700 rookie pacing colt division saw Red Dirt Boomer prevail off a pocket trip in 1:58.1 for trainer-driver Gilles Barrieau and owner Daniel Ross of Belfast, P.E.I. Pacesetter Woodmere Bolt had to settle for second in his first career loss with his win streak ended at seven wins.

Red Dirt Rocknroll was another $6,700 P.E.I. Colt Stakes two-year-old pacing colt winner in 1:59.3 with Campbell at the controls for trainer Lenny Myers, who co-owns with Jack Quinn of Charlottetown.

Dusty Lane Cortez gave driver David Dowling his first P.E.I. Colt Stakes victory in the other two-year-old colt division. Devon Wallace trains the colt for owners David and Jordan Lewis of Alberton, P.E.I.

P.E.I. Colt Stakes action continued on the Saturday evening program and Sock It Away was first at every station and found himself to the winner’s circle to continue his undefeated three-year-old season.

The son of Pang Shui has yet to taste defeat in 12 seasonal outings for trainer Kevin MacLean and owner Reg MacPherson of Stratford, P.E.I. Campbell was in the bike for the win in his $7,200 P.E.I. Colt Stakes three-year-old pacing colt division with a mile time of 1:55.2.

In other three-year-old pacing colt action, Half Cut captured his division in 1:56.2 for driver Mark Bradley, trainer Tom Weatherbie and Island owners Kyle Gardiner and Mike Currie of Cardigan, Joseph Gardiner of Mount Stewart and Jerry MacKinnon of St. Peter’s Bay.

Woodmere Ideal Art also hit the winner’s circle in the P.E.I. Colt Stakes as the three-year-old son of Articulator was on top at every call for a 1:57.1 win with Jason Hughes at the lines for trainer Sifroi Melanson and owner Ultimate Stable of Greater Lakeburn, N.B.

Favourites prevailed in every three-year-old pacing filly division of the P.E.I. Colt Stakes on the evening card.

Tobins Terror started the action with a 1:56.1 win in her $5,800 division for driver Campbell, trainer Gary Chappell and owners Daniel Ross of Belfast and Boyd MacDonald Produce Ltd of Crapaud, P.E.I.

The next sophomore $5,800 filly split had Maybeitsmaybelline hit the winner’s circle in a mile time of 1:59.2 as the betting favourite. Kenny Arsenault supplied the drive for trainer Weatherbie and owners Blair Hansen of Charlottetown, P.E.I., and Cheryl Geldart Greer of Norton, N.B. R Es Shabla was the favourite at post time but was refunded by racing officials after pulling up before the start.

Bettim Jackie won her division as the heavy favourite by three-and-three-quarter lengths in 1:56.2 for driver Gilles Barrieau, trainer and co-owner Jeff Lilley of Milton, Blair MacLauchlan of Charlottetown, P.E.I., and Danny Purcell of Newport, N.S.

The final $5,800 filly bout had Royaltywestho land on top, stopping the clock in 1:58.1 for driver Walter Cheverie and trainer Joe Baxter, who co-owns the filly with fellow Windsor, N.S., resident Gregory Francis.

The evening program also featured the Atlantic Aged Pacing Mares Series with a pair of $3,720 divisions.

Collective Wisdom won the first division in 1:57.1 for driver Barrieau and trainer Jackie Matheson, while Barrieau also prevailed in the second split with a 1:54.4 victory aboard his own Sodwana Bay.

Euchred won the $2,650 preferred pace in a 1:53.2 mile for driver Barrieau, trainer Terry Gallant and owner Kayla Habicht Walker of Inverness, N.S. It was win number 13 on the season for the six-year-old son of Shadow Play and it gave Barrieau six wins on the day.
