Indiana Super Night This Saturday
An unprecedented $1.4 million will be up for grabs at Indiana Downs on Saturday, September 12, as part of the track’s Super Night program. A total of 10 Indiana Sires
Stakes champions will be crowned on the 14-race program, the richest in the history of Indiana harness racing.
A field of 10 sophomore trotting fillies will vie for a robust $180,000 payday in the night’s fourth race. J Rs Star, winner of the $150,000 ISS final at Hoosier Park, will be the favourite to repeat Saturday night, and starts from Post 3 for driver Jay Cross. ABC Ez Credit, the other half of the Verlin Yoder-owned and trained entry, is also a factor from Post 5. Livnluvn Bluegrass, Indiana’s two-year-old filly trotting champion, has drawn the outside post.
Whos Unreal, from the Dennis Putman stable, will look to add another ISS finals victory to his credit Saturday. The Prague gelding, winner of the final in July at Hoosier Park, will line up third behind the gate in the $150,000 final for sophomore colt trotters. Bar One, a finals winner at two, will start from Post 7 for Peter Wrenn. Joe Cat, recently purchased and moved to the Burke Stable, will line up fourth.
The Burke Stable will send out the favoured entry of Evening Job and Got Er Done in the $150,000 ISS final for sophomore colt pacers. Got Er Done and Matt Kakaley will start from the rail, with Evening Job and Ricky Macomber lining up fourth behind the gate. Bernardi, winner of the $150,000 final earlier this year in Anderson, has drawn Post 6 for trainer Marie Konieczki.
High Speed Life looks to sweep the second series with a victory in the $150,000 final for three-year-old filly pacers. The Lease On Life sophomore, winner of the $150,000 final at Hoosier Park, claimed all four preliminary legs leading up to Saturday’s final. She will be driven by Macomber from Post 3. Western Kit, a winner in three preliminary legs at Indiana Downs, has drawn Post 9 for trainer Joe Putnam. Whitefish Falls filly Ag N Au Bluegrass will line up sixth for trainer John Merkel.
Msnaughtybynature heads a group of 10 freshman filly trotters slated to battle in the $125,000 Indiana Sires Stakes final set to kick off Saturday’s program. The Scramble Ranger lass claimed victory in each of three preliminary legs for owners Peter Wrenn and The Kales Company LLC. Wrenn, who trains and drives the filly, will start from Post 4 with the four-time winner. Call Me Ching, first or second in each of her seven starts, has drawn Post 3 for John Merkel. The Keep It A Secret freshman will be driven by Dan Shetler. Hoosier Cheetah, twice a winner in ISS action for trainer Steve Waller, will start sixth.
DM Stables’ ABC Photo looks to complete the series sweep with a victory in the $125,000 ISS final for two-year-old colt trotters. The ABC Garland gelding has won six of seven starts for trainer Bobby Brower and driver Dan Shetler, and has drawn Post 10 in the final. Super Beat, a two-time ISS winner for Verlin Yoder, starts from Post 9 for Peter Wrenn. Bluebird Caviar, a first-time winner last week for the Burke Stable, has drawn the rail.
Bluebird Regal will put her undefeated streak on the line in the $125,000 Indiana Sires Stakes final for freshman filly pacers. The Third Straight filly, trained and driven by Dan Shetler, will start on the rail in the second tier for owners Paul and Phillip Svehla. Townline Kenya, also a winner in each of the three preliminary legs, lines up sixth for owner and trainer Mark Hipsher. The Kilowatt filly will be driven by Peter Wrenn. Kilo Dream, twice a winner in ISS competition will start from Post 4.
The $125,000 ISS final for two-year-old colt pacers looks to be a wide open affair. Dublo Six, a two-time winner in Indiana Sires Stakes action has drawn the outside post for trainer Steve Livingston. To his inside is Marky Mike, another two-time winner, trained by Dan Bowermaster. Ewell Binkley’s Ombre Art starts from Post 3 and Harvards Z Tam will line up to his outside in fourth.
A pair of $90,000 finals for older male trotters and female pacers will cap Indiana Sires Stakes action Saturday evening. Larry Miller’s ABC Mercedes will attempt to add another finals victory to his credit, but has drawn post nine for trainer Joe Putnam. Mark O’Mara will drive the ABC Garland four-year-old. Blowlowsanta, runner-up to ABC Mercedes in the elimination last week, will start from the rail for Jason Dillander. Hoosier Cadillac, winner of the second elimination, will follow from the second tier for trainer Sally Gilbert. The Ripke’s Victory gelding will be driven by Dan Shetler.
Frank Baldachino’s Go On BB looks to add another championship to her extensive resume with a victory in the $90,000 final for pacing mares. The five-year-old Dontgetinmyway mare lines up behind the gate fourth for trainer Ron Burke after an elimination win last week. A winner of more than $850,000 in her illustrious career, Go On BB will be driven by Ricky Macomber. Postmark, winner of last week's second elimination for trainer Charles Stillings, starts to her inside in Post 3. The Mark Johnathan mare will be driven by Dan Shetler.
