'Centaur' Now Caesars Trotting Classic
Hoosier Park Racing & Casino recently announced a name change to its annual trotting classic to be held on Friday, Sept. 21, 2018. The $200,000 est. race, formerly known as the Centaur Trotting Classic, has been renamed as the Caesars Trotting Classic.
The race, which serves as Hoosier Park’s richest trotting race, is open to trotters that are three-years-old and up and has historically attracted some of the top trotters in the country each season.
The inaugural edition of the Caesars Trotting Classic will be joined by the $200,000 est. Kentuckiana Stallion Management Stakes, the $175,000 est. Jenna’s Beach Boy Pace, the $175,000 est. Hoosier Park Pacing Derby, and the $125,000 Elevation Pace, sending purses to be distributed on the evening over the $1-million mark. First post will be 6:30 p.m.
Nominations for the Caesars Trotting Classic closed with 30 of the top older trotters in North America included in the lineup. Winning in 2015, world-champion Hannelore Hanover leads the list of nominees and would return to her home state for the first time this season. Also among the list of eligibles are Trotting Triple Crown champion Marion Marauder and the 2017's winner Homicide Hunter. A full list of those included on this year’s nomination list for all of the events can be found on Hoosier Park’s website or by clicking here.
The stakes filled weekend is part of Hoosier Park’s 2018 Championship Meet, which features a lucrative $5 million stakes schedule. The twelve-week championship stretch, which kicked off on Friday, Aug. 10 with the $325,000 Dan Patch Stakes, will offer an unparalleled series of high-caliber stakes races and bring out some of the best horses, drivers and trainers in the country.
With a daily post time of 6:30 p.m., live racing at Hoosier Park Racing & Casino will follow a Tuesday through Saturday schedule and be conducted through Nov. 10.
