Flying Isa N Delivers In Preferred
Flying Isa N had no trouble overcoming his outside post assignment as he cruised to a three-length victory in the featured $8,100 Preferred Handicap Trot on Sunday night (Sept. 9) at Rideau Carleton Raceway.
Torches Angel forged on between fellow early leavers to take the lead during a :27.4 quarter, however, her lead was short-lived as even-money favourite Flying Isa N worked his way to the top as the field raced under the wire the first time. The 10-year-old trotter, who had hit the board in his last three Preferred starts at Rideau, fronted the field the rest of the way, leading through a half in :57.3 and three-quarters in 1:27.1. He was still clear on top entering the stretch and cruised home unchallenged to win in 1:57.1 in rein to Stephane Brosseau. LMC Mass Gem advanced first-over and finished second while Y S Suzanne rounded out the top three finish order.
Flying Isa N now sports a seasonal summary line reading 7-7-3 from 28 starts with earnings totalling $50,979. Yves Tessier trains the Pegasus Spur gelding for owner Francois Morin of Beauceville, Que.
The Summer Sunset Series began on Sunday night with a pair of $7,200 divisions for $15,000 claiming pacers and a trio of $6,200 divisions for $10,000 claiming pacers.
Marie Claude Auger doubled up in the opening leg of the series driving Copley Stables' Winning Drive ($6.80) and the David Robson-trained Savannah Splendor ($10.50).
Tessier sent out a series winner as Macktwowilldew ($2.90) took his division with Pascal Berube driving while Brosseau also scored with Matthew McDonald's Sunday Poker ($5.70).
Rose Run Ranger ($3.70) was victorious in the other series split with Jonathan Lachance aboard for trainer Gerard Demers.
