Favourites Sweep Blair Andrew Memorial
Little Miss Winnie and Dusty Lane Titan prevailed in their $10,000 divisions of the Blair Andrew Memorial during Thursday evening’s 13-race card at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Little Miss Winnie was sent to the front by driver Gilles Barrieau, and the filly never looked back through fractions of :31.2, 1:02.1 and 1:33.1 She used a :31-second final frame to win by 5-1/4 lengths over Dusty Lane Mavis in 2:04.1. Oceanview Hal was third.
Ralph Annear trains the two-year-old daughter of Tad The Stud-Worth Remembering for owner Steven Sorrie of Montague, PE. From six starts she’s manufactured a 4-1-0 record and a bankroll in excess of $20,000.
Dusty Lane Titan pushed his winning streak to three-in-a-row thanks to his 2:04.1 triumph in the second division.
Trainer/driver Marc Campbell whacked out panels of :31.1, 1:02.2 and 1:34.3 with the youngster before using a :29.3 closing quarter to seal the deal by 4-1/2 lengths over Windemerebarrister. Gettin Messi took home third prize.
The two-year-old son of Tad The Stud-Starinthesky is owned by Grayland Farm of Pugwash, NS. With the win, the rookie now owns a 3-2-0 record from six starts. The $5,000 payday pushed his overall earnings to $15,133.
Freddie took home bragging rights once again in the $1,950 Open Trot for trainer/driver Marc Campbell. The 44-time winner rallied to win in 2:00.1 over Majian Tango and Glencover Carter.
Three Wisemen Stable of Kensington, PE owns the six-year-old son of Majestic Son-Circe Hanover. The win pushed his lifetime earnings to $127,704.
