Six For Devaux At Monticello
On Tuesday afternoon (Aug. 21), Jim Devaux could do no wrong, winning six races — three of them for trainer Dolores Basilone — on the 10-race program at Monticello Raceway.
Devaux wasted no time, as he steered Thergoesmyvacation ($3.20, 2:00.2) to victory for co-owner and trainer Robert Petitto in the first race. Devaux was off the board in the second, but came right back to win the next three races in succession, starting with Panedictine ($16.40, 1:54.4) and Fly To The Angels ($20.20, 1:58.2) before driving four-year-old gelding Sammy B Happy ($4.30, 1:56.1) for trainer Dawn Devaux and owner David Yarock.
Devaux's fifth win came with Rude Boy ($6.80, 1:55.2), and he completed his double hat trick in the ninth race with O Jonnie ($16.40, 2:00.3), a Joe Moeykens trainee.
Interestingly, prolific Cumin mare HFs Gal had two of her offspring race on the card — the aforementioned Thergoesmyvacation and O Jonnie — and both were winners.
After picking up half a dozen wins for the day, Devaux overtook Austin Siegelman for third place in the local driver standings.
