Trudeau Returns To Red Shores
Many of harness racing's fans and participants have been introduced to the sport during their youth, and having exposure to horses and racing during childhood definitely helps foster lifelong fans and followers. That statement certainly would appear to hold true with Canada's Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau.
Two years ago, Prime Minister Trudeau was spotted taking in the races at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park. Trudeau posed for a photo during one of the winner's circle blanket presentations on August 16, 2016.
Nearly two years later, Trudeau was back at Charlottetown Driving Park enjoying Old Home Week. The Prime Minister was seen with four-year-old son Hadrien on the slide and carousel, and Trot Insider also received a photo of the Trudeaus with horseman Jason Hughes and his sons on the CDP backstretch.
"He came to the racetrack and he was up in front of the grandstand and he came down to the barn area," Hughes told Trot Insider. "He came over with [Minister of Finance, responsible for harness racing in P.E.I] Heath MacDonald, introduced me to him and we got our photo taken."

The Trudeaus and Hughes families took a few minutes to chat and shared a chuckle over the common given names.
"The Prime Minister shook Justin's hand and said 'Hello, Justin!' and he replied 'Hello, Justin!' and [Trudeau] laughed," recalled Hughes with a laugh of his own.
Old Home Week continues through to Saturday, August 18, culminating with one of the most anticipated shows in all of harness racing, the Guardian Gold Cup & Saucer.
