Preferreds To Undrafted & Adversity
Sunday night's co-featured Preferred 3s at Georgian Downs, each worth $8,500, were won by the late-closing pacer Undrafted and trotter Adversity.
With Colin Kelly aboard, Undrafted moved underway down the backstretch from midpack and raced three-wide past the third quarter mark then out-sprinted his foes to the finish, winning in 1:53.3 for trainer Kyle Fellows and owner Louie Sorella. The five-year-old Rocknroll Hanover gelding bested inside closer Rebel Voyager for the half-length score while 8-5 favourite Drunkonaplane, who had moved to the lead after the :28.1 first quarter and put up middle splits of :56.3 and 1:24.4, finished right there in third giving trainer Craig Gilmour and ICR Racing a 2-3 finish in the co-feature. Undrafted returned $9.80 to his backers as the the 7-2 third choice.
Returning to the class he won on June 17, Adversity circled a field of five to win the Preferred 3 Handicap Trot by one length in 1:56 flat for trainer/driver Jason Ryan and Jemaxpo Racing Stable. The seven-year-old son of Yankee Glide paid $3.30 to win as the 9-5 bettors' choice after trailing early on and then tracking cover into the stretch. Twofourroadie had advanced first-up on race leader Its Huw You Know (:28, 57.4, 1:26.1) and collared him at the wire for second-place honours.
