Surrealist Sharp In Inverness Feature
Sent the odds-on favourite, Surrealist brushed to the lead and opened a five-length margin while advancing to a 1:58.4 victory in the $1,150 Winners-Over Pace at Inverness Raceway on Sunday, Aug. 12.
Brother John took control from the rail and posted a :29.4 first quarter with Surrealist sitting fourth. Moving to the half, driver Alex MacQuarrie tipped Surrealist first over as Brother John paced to the half in 1:00.3. Surrealist then took command into the backstretch, passing three-quarters in 1:30.1, and extended his lead through the turn and in the stretch. Brother John chased in second with Doubleshotascotch closing from third over for third.
A 12-year-old gelding by Modern Art from the Run The Table mare Keeping Secrets, Surrealist, owned and trained by Dana Getto, won his sixth race in 14 starts this year and his 76th in 252 overall, earning $296,286. He paid $3.50 to win.
