Surrealist Strikes Again At Inverness
In yet another showdown between a pair of 12-year-old "war horses", Surrealist ($4.10) took full advantage of a pocket trip to just eclipse Doubleshotascotch in their Wednesday (Aug. 8) meeting in the featured $1,150 winners-over pacing event at Inverness Raceway.
Alex MacQuarrie protected pole position to secure the pocket with Surrealist behind Doubleshotascotch (Ryan Campbell), who assumed the pacesetting duties through soft early fractions of :30.2 and :59.3. On the clubhouse turn, Doubleshotascotch was faced with a stiff first-over bid from Twisted Frisco (Shawn MacDonald), while Surrealist tracked a :29.3 third quarter duel. MacQuarrie was able to move Surrealist out after Twisted Frisco faded, and the gelded son of Modern Art reached in time to best Doubleshotascotch by a neck in 1:58.3. R Es Aiden (Rodney Gillis) was a ground-saving third.
