CTV Kitchener recently spent some time at a training centre finding out more about Standardbreds and what goes into preparing them for their on-track careers.

The three segments were recorded at Tomiko Training Centre and were shown during the In Your Backyard segment. Hosted by CTV's Stu Gooden, the segments attempt to "visit a local landmark, try out a new activity, or profile somebody who helps make this part of Ontario so special," according to the CTV Kitchener website.

Interviewed during the segments were horseman Anthony MacDonald, caretaker Johnny MacKinnon and blacksmith Larry Small.
