Youngsters To Compete On Hambo Day
The field has been set for Harness Horse Youth Foundation’s ‘invitational’ exhibition, which will be held this Saturday (August 4) at the Meadowlands Racetrack.
One representative from each of the three introductory level programs was selected to participate.
From the Goshen Historic Track event:
• AJ Wright, Age 14, Hometown: Montpelier, Indiana
From the Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono event:
• Alivia Smith, Age 12, Hometown: Olyphant, Pennsylvania
From the Gaitway Farm event:
• Genna Kerlin, Age 12, Hometown: Allentown, New Jersey
“Each of these young people demonstrated keen interest in harness racing as well as possessing great work ethics and sportsmanship,” explained HHYF Executive Director Ellen Taylor. “It is always a pleasure to reward outstanding efforts with the total experience of Hambletonian Day, not to mention the thrill of being on the track.”
The aspiring drivers will be assisted by professionals Corey Callahan, Andrew McCarthy, and Scott Zeron, and their horses will be CDs Miss M, I Want Another, and Royal Attire from the HHYF stable.
Post time for the HHYF exhibition will be 11:25 a.m., just prior to the beginning of the day’s star-packed card, which will include the Hambletonian and Hambletonian Oaks.
