Eclipse Me N Edges To Victory
Eclipse Me N sat midpack as pacesetter Betabcool N set soft fractions but, with a strong late rally, she edged to a neck victory in 1:53 in the $17,500 distaff pacing feature Tuesday, July 31 at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono.
Betabcool N put Keystone Riptide in behind her earlier and paced a :28.2 quarter and :58 half. Driver Simon Allard had moved Eclipse Me N second over behind favoured Princess Fabulosa and gained ground to the 1:25.1 three-quarters, then swung wide late on the turn and continued to gain, just edging the pacesetter on the money with Princess Fabulosa holding for third.
Simon’s brother Rene trains the winner of $149,369 for Allard Racing Inc., Yves Sarrazin, and Donald MacRae.
Goldberg proved to be more a power grinder as the freshman took his purse debut in 1:54.3. The son of Mr Wiggles – Chausettes Blanche was placed second over by owner-driver Montrell Teague by a :59.2 half. The Brenda Teague trainee waited until midway around the final turn to tip off his fast-moving cover and finished out his own last half in :54.4 to win by one-and-three-quarter lengths without urging.
