This Is My Song Romps In Preferred
After a near miss in last week’s runner-up performance at Grand River Raceway, This Is My Song returned to the Elora half-miler and captured Monday’s $8,500 Preferred 3 for horse and gelding pacers.
This Is My Song got away fourth for driver Scott Coulter, who tracked Machs Beach Boy through panels of :28.3, :58.2 and 1:27.4. This Is My Song was on the move from first-over in the backstretch, and his :27.3 closing panel was enough to post the win by four lengths in 1:55.3 over Kwicky Kwanzaa. Swellendam was third.
Sent off as the even-money favourite, the Craig Barss pupil scored for his trainer and partner Nurko Sokolovic. The four-year-old son of Rock N Roll Heaven-Cherokee Ndn Prncs is now a two-time winner this season and a six-time winner to date. He’s stashed away over $75,000 in career earnings.
