Tim Pinske Passes; Arrangements Set

Tim Pinske, well known at racetracks throughout North America and along with his family owner of Southern Oaks Training Center in Florida, has died. He was 71.

In recent months Mr. Pinske's health declined from the effects of Lewy body dementia but this past winter he was at Southern Oaks, keeping an eye on the horses owned by the Pinske family and the training center while in the company of his wife, Marlys, son Karl and grandson Carter.

The Pinske family has campaigned many top stakes horses over the years and most notably won the North America Cup with Yankee Cruiser (1:49.3 - $1,457,346), who had been developed and trained by their son Brian, who died six months earlier while attending the Harrisburg yearling sale. The Pinske family also enjoyed great success with Mister Big (1:47.4 - $4,143,492).

In addition to their involvement with harness racing, the Pinske family's main business is Plato Woodworking in Plato, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday (July 24) at 1:30 p.m. at Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe, Minn., with interment following at the Glencoe Catholic Cemetery in Glencoe.

Gathering of family and friends will be held Monday (July 23) from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Harness Horse Youth Foundation, 217 East Main St., Sudlersville, MD 21668.

They don't make them any better, nor any classier than Tim Pinske.

Got to know Tim when he made his regular trips to Ontario, a real gentleman. We had many conversations through the years, a great guy to visit with and a student of the sport. My condolences to the family, rest easy old friend.

Thoughts and prayers to Marlys, Karl and family - always enjoyed visiting with Tim in Florida... what a nice man.
