Meadows Feature To Call For Justice
Call For Justice pounced on his hard-used stablemate, Ladys Dude, and overtook him in the lane to capture Monday’s $18,000 Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows.
Ladys Dude was parked the opening three-eighths, leaving him vulnerable to the first-over challenge of Call For Justice and Dave Palone. The six-year-old son of Justice Hall-Mikas Mazurka held off the Lightning Lane thrust of Trustworthy Kid by a length in 1:54.1 while Youre Majestic, the lone mare in the field, rallied for show.
Ron Burke trains Call For Justice, who now boasts $491,127 in career earnings, for Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi LLC. It was one of three wins for Palone on the 13-race card.
The Meadows Racetrack & Casino has increased — to $40,000 — the total-pool guarantee for its Tuesday, July 10 Pick 5 wager (races 9-13) as part of the United States Trotting Association's Strategic Wagering Initiative.
While $5,000 Pick 5 guarantees are offered each card, The Meadows sweetened the pot when neither Saturday’s nor Monday’s Pick 5 was covered, resulting in a two-day carryover of $12,708.18.
In addition, Tuesday’s program features a $7,500 total-pool guarantee for the Pick 4 (races 4-7), a $2,333.31 carryover in the day’s first Superfecta (currently race 2) and a $1,002.80 jackpot in the Super High 5 (race 13).
Minimum wager for the Pick 4, Pick 5, Superfecta and Super High 5 is 50 cents. Since Pennsylvania law requires a minimum per-race wager of $2, a player wagering at the 50-cent level must bet at least four tickets.
First post Tuesday is 1:05 p.m.
