Pulling pocket past the quarter, odds-on favourite Emoticon Hanover strolled to a 1:52.1 win while holding off a late bid from Caprice Hill in the $30,000 Fillies and Mares Preferred Trot on Tuesday, July 3 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

Caprice Hill took control early, posting a :27.3 opening quarter while Emoticon Hanover drafted in the pocket. The Luc Blais trainee circled to the lead moving to the half, trotting to that station in :56.4 and expanding to a two-and-one-quarter length lead through three-quarters in 1:25.2. Caprice Hill came out of the pocket into the stretch to pursue the leader, finishing three-quarter lengths back in second while Royal Witch, moving wide, took third.

Emoticon Hanover, owned by Determination, won for the third time in five starts and for the 19th in 43 overall, earning $1,387,264. Bob McClure drove the five-year-old Kadabra mare who paid $2.60 to win.
