Newcomer Wires Field At Summerside
Not even the outside post could get in the way of Fast N Victorious’ route to the winner’s circle Sunday afternoon at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
Adam Merner supplied the winning steer in the $2,500 preferred pace as the Stephen Gass trainee was on top at every call in his East Coast debut for new owners Kent Livingston of Cornwall and Wade MacDonald of Stanhope. Merner laid down fractions of :29.1, :59 and 1:27.3 with Fast N Victorious before fighting off Heart And Soul (Walter Cheverie) in deep stretch for the 1:56 win. Confident Fella (Marc Campbell) completed the $404.45 triactor ticket while race favourite Do Over Hanover (Jason Hughes) finished fifth.
Merner had three wins on the program as he also clicked with J Rs Hurricane in 1:59 for Jean Charles Belliveau of Scoudoic, N.B, and Red Magician in 1:56.3 for trainer Melissa Rennie of Charlottetown.
Live harness racing continues on P.E.I. this coming Thursday and Saturday at Red Shores Charlottetown and next Sunday afternoon at Red Shores Summerside for Canada Day racing.
