Camifasolasi Do In Track Record Time
The track record for older pacing mares at Evergreen Park now belongs to Camifasolasi Do, thanks to a dominant 1:55.1 performance over the Grand Prairie half-mile oval
on Sunday afternoon.
The four-year-old daughter of Cammibest-Grecian Princess shaved one-fifth of a second off the former mark set by Second Fancy on July 11, 2009.
Camifasolasi Do marched the field to the quarter pole in :29 seconds for trainer/driver J.F. Gagne, who opted to let Weareverigo clear to the top on the way to the half. That pacer put up middle splits of :57.1 and 1:26.2 before handing the baton right back to Camifasolasi Do. She popped the pocket and used a :28.3 closing panel to post the three-length win. Lynettes Legacy was second and Weareverigo faded to finish third.
Gagne shares ownership on the six-time winner with Peter Van Seggelen of De Winton, AB. It was the second win of the season in 18 tries for the career winner of $58,149.
Jamie Gray had a solid day at the office, winning with three starters from his own barn and adding a catch-driving victory.
Gray mapped out a winning trip in the second race with the Doug Shaw trainee, Ashley Rocks (2:04.3.) Stablemates Red Star Bytheway (1:59.3), Speed Delinquent (1:55.2) and Domestic Bliss (1:57.1) gave Gray the training hat-trick and completed the Grand Slam in the driving department.
