Hudon With Century Grand Slam
Conditioner Gerry Hudon collected four wins on the 10-race program at Century Downs on Sunday (June 17).
Hudon sent True Horizon to the track, taking the $6,200 opening race with a backstretch brush to the front. Driven by Phil Giesbrecht, the filly by Vertical Horizon won by 3-3/4 lengths in 1:58.4 and returned $11.10 to win.
Mystic Island gave Hudon his second training victory on the day, winning a $5,000 maiden pace off a rail trip in 2:00.3. Dave Hudon piloted the gelded son of Camystic, who paid $6.20 to win. One race later, Hudon won his third with Just A Dragon in a $3,900 maiden claiming pace with Giesbrecht in the bike. Pacing to victory in 2:02.3, the 1-1/2 length winner paid $5.20 to win as the race favourite.
Hudon's grand slam culminated in a $5,400 conditioned event with Amboy Duke, who returned $4.70 to win after Giesbrecht teamed him to a narrow 1:57.2 victory over pacesetter Tiempo Hanover.
