'Vanity,' 'Curls' Star At Nouvelle
Nouvelle Fair in Quebec hosted an eight-race harness racing program on Saturday afternoon and Golden Vanity and Curls For Girls shared the spotlight with wins in the co-featured pacing events

Golden Vanity won the $1,100 Invitation Pace in 2:02.2 by a neck over pacesetter Elite Rythm (Yves Poirier) for driver Pierre Luc Roy and trainer/owner Jean Marc Roy while Connely C C (Gilles Berube) finished third. The four-year-old son of Khayam-Love Wave scored his first win of the year in two starts and 17th of his career.
In the $1,100 Open, Curls For Girls overtook Quick Dummer (Eric Dechamplain) in the stretch to prevail in 2:03.4 by a length. Terra Panic (Gilles Berube) rounded out the top three. Jean Luc Berube owns and trains the seven-year-old daughter of Gothic Dream-Crosstown Katie, a nine-time winner who picked up her first victory in six seasonal starts.
Trainer/driver Regis Soucy also enjoyed a productive afternoon winning three of the eight races by a combined 35 lengths. The resident of Pabos, Que., has sent 125 winners postward in his career earning over $130,000 in purses.
Rap Gigolo prevailed by 12 lengths in 2:08.4 in the first race for Soucy, No Fear Artist won by five in 2:07.4 in the third and Rap Tough Guy was 18 lengths the best in 2:06.3 in the fifth, which was marred by a single-horse spill. River Sensation fell in the stretch with Pierre Luc Roy in the bike. No immediate information regarding the incident was available, but Roy did complete his remaining drives on the card.
