Trump That Rights The Ship
After getting thumped by the foes he faced in a division of the Somebeachsomewhere Stake at Woodbine Mohawk Park on June 2, Trump That turned around and throttled the rivals he sparred with in a $17,000 conditioned assignment at the Campbellville, Ont. oval.
A whopping 35 lengths back of the winner in the Somebeachsomewhere assignment, Trump That his the reset button and came back to show his true colours 12 days later for trainer Dave Menary.
In rein to Jody Jamieson, Trump That got away fourth in Monday evening’s assignment. He was on the move in the backstretch, however, and quickly found himself battling the leader at the mid-way point in :57.1. Jamieson turned on the jets with Trump That around the final turn, with the field chasing him to the three-quarter pole in a stunning 1:23.4. That :26.3 third quarter was followed by a closing panel of :27.4 which helped the gelding win by seven lengths in a career-best clocking of 1:51.3.
The three-year-old son of Somebeachsomewhere-Michelle My Gal now owns a 2-6-0 record from 11 career assignments. The winner of $92,501 is owned by Menary Racing Inc, Michael Guerriero, Kenneth Ewen and Bruce Norris.
