'Royalty,' Doucet Reign At Inverness
After having been sent away as the odds-on favourite, the Redmond Doucet-driven Intended Royalty ($3.50) captured Inverness Raceway’s $1,150 Winners Over Pace on Sunday (June 10), as the Randy Copley pupil made every pole a winning one from Post 3 and tripped the timer seven lengths the best in 1:57.1.
The victory marked Intended Royalty’s third consecutive win. The seven-year-old No Pan Intended gelding posed for the track photographer after having cut the fractions in :28.2, :57.2 and 1:27.1.
After having started from Post 2, Shanghai B G (driven by Alex MacQuarrie) paced a pocket trip before finishing second. Doubleshotascotch (Ryan Campbell) raced fourth through the mile before launching a first-up move. He finished more than eight lengths in arrears of the victor. Bonnys Mac (John MacDonald) and Unstoppable Speed (Andrew Maclean) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
Intended Royalty has now won four of his five seasonal starts for Randy and Edward Copley of Inverness.
The victory with Intended Royalty was one of four on the nine-race docket for Doucet, who also notched wins with MacNamara ($2.70), Tipperbackjack ($4.80) and Western Bandit ($7.00).
