Carrick Named N.A. Cup Drawmaster

Woodbine Mohawk Park is pleased to announce Connor Carrick, Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman, as this year’s drawmaster for the $1 million Pepsi North America Cup.

The post position draw and media conference for the Pepsi North America Cup is scheduled for Tuesday, June 12 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

A native of Orland Park, Illinois, Carrick, 24, was drafted in the fifth round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by the Washington Capitals after playing two seasons with the U.S. National Development Team. He then joined the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League for a season prior to his first professional season in 2013-14.

Carrick spent parts of three seasons with the Capitals organization before being traded in February of 2016 to the Maple Leafs. The right-shot defenceman has played 130 games for the Maple Leafs, having spent the entire last two seasons at the NHL level.

Carrick recorded four goals and eight assists for 12 points in 47 games played last season.

His career totals currently sit at nine goals, 21 assists, 30 points and 116 penalty minutes in 167 NHL games played.

The $1 million Pepsi North America Cup is for harness racing’s finest three-year-old pacers and will take place on Saturday, June 16. The field of 10 that will receive their post positions at next Tuesday’s draw will be determined during this Saturday’s (June 9) elimination races.

The post position draw and media conference, featuring Carrick, will get underway at noon on Tuesday, June 12.
