Intended Royalty Reigns Again
The Randy and Edward Copley-owned Intended Royalty reigned supreme in Inverness Raceway’s $1,150 Winners Over Pace on Sunday (June 3), as the public’s second choice made every pole a winning one and recorded a neck victory in 2:01.2.
Intended Royalty, a seven-year-old gelded son of No Pan Intended, fired from the outside Post 6, chopped all the fractions (:28.3, :58.1, 1:29.1), and came home with a :32.1 final quarter mile clocking.
Intended Royalty, who is trained by Randy Copley and driven by Redmond Doucet, held off the closing Doubleshotascotch (driven by Brett LeBlance). Bonnys Mac (Lanny Hanscombe), who had raced last for most of the mile, got up to finish five lengths in arrears to nab third money.
Intended Royalty – who has won 22 of his 114 career races and $97,000 in purses – has now won three of his four seasonal starts and over $2,100 during this young campaign.
The Winners Over Pace was the final dash on Inverness’ seven-race Sunday docket.
