Southwind Ricardo Delivers At Northside
After being dismissed as a rank outsider one week ago and finishing second, Southwind Ricardo did not fly under the radar in Saturday's Winners Over Pace at Northside Downs.
Leaving from the advantageous rail position, driver Mark Pezzarello pointed public choice Southwind Ricardo to the lead right off the gate, made four left tours and was never seriously challenged en route to a four-length victory in 2:00.1. The APHRC judges listed the track as 'slow' with a four-second allowance.
Burn Em Up Burr (Gerard Kennedy) chased from the pocket in futility to finish second with seasonally-debuting Surrealist (Ryan Campbell) some 20 lengths back in third.
A five-year-old son of Dragon Again - Southwind Rio, Southwind Ricardo is owned by trainer Ronald Seymour Jr. along with Joel Le Blanc. The win was the 30th lifetime for Southwind Ricardo and pushed his lifetime earnings to $82,251.
