Odds-on favourite In Spades sported a length lead on the line when winning the $11,500 Preferred 2 Handicap Pace on Sunday, May 13 at The Raceway at Western Fair District, wiring the field in 1:52.4.

Trainer-driver J Harris sent In Spades to the top, leading pocket-sitter Mister X through a :26.4 opening quarter. Boomboom Ballykeel, away fourth from post 7, moved first over passing the stands, supplying cover to Rebel Voyager approaching the half, which In Spades passed in :56.1.

Boomboom Ballykeel pulled toward In Spades nearing three quarters, positioned wide a length off the lead. Rebel Voyager remained on his back second over, while Jake Loewen edged off the rail to be third over passing three quarters, timed in 1:24. Both Rebel Voyager and Jake Loewen fanned off Boomboom Ballykeel's cover into the stretch in pursuit of pacesetter In Spades, but hit the line together to finish second in a dead-heat behind the public choice. Boomboom Ballykeel faded to fourth.

A four-year-old gelding by Bettors Delight out of the Astreos mare Cinny Fever, In Spades, owned by Walter Simmons, won his fourth race in 17 starts this season and his ninth in 41 overall, earning $99,282. He returned $2.90 to win.
