Memorial Race Planned For Jim Dicks
Trot Insider has learned that Northside Downs will be offering a memorial race for the late James ‘Jim’ Dicks on Saturday, May 26.
Dicks lost his battle with Alzheimers on October 24, 2017, leaving behind his six children and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was 82.
‘Squint,’ as he was known by many, spent his life with the ponies. He spent his younger years in the sulky from Nova Scotia to Blue Bonnets Raceway in Monteal.
Since they started keeping stats in 1977, Dicks drove in 596 races with 68 victories, 72 second-place finishes and 77 thirds.
Dicks, whose final horse was Betty, still remembered the horses long after his memory was gone.
Dick’s kids and grandchildren remain involved with the horses, where his memory will live forever.
