Czar Seelster Sails In Preferred
Gregory Weatherbee trainee Czar Seelster set sights on the lead and wired the field in the $2,500 Preferred Pace at Charlottetown Driving Park on Saturday, May 5.
Czar Seelster took control from post three and led through a :29.1 opening quarter. He remained unchallenged on the front, pacing a :58.2 half and three quarters in 1:27.4. Into the stretch, he opened a two-length margin which expanded to four at the line over Euchred, who rallied off stalled cover for second. Keep Coming, off a pocket trip, finished third.
A nine-year-old stallion by Stonebridge Regal out of the Threefold mare Cmon Mama Cass, Czar Seelster, owned by Tammy Johnston, won his first race in three starts this season and his 25th in 143 overall, earning $169,167. Driven by Kenneth Arsenault, he paid $5.50 to win.
