Spreester Tops Saratoga Mares Again
Spreester stayed red-hot on Friday night (April 27) at Saratoga Casino Hotel as the track’s top distaffer this season won the local Open for the fourth time in five tries.
The Paul Zabielski-trained Spreester went coast-to-coast in last weekend’s installment of the $14,500 Fillies and Mares Open but on Friday night, driver Frank Coppola Jr. took the feature’s odds-on favuorite back early and would come from off the pace with the star lady pacer. Spreester wound up getting a second-over trip before tipping off her cover and charging home to prevail in 1:54.4 over a track labeled ‘good.’
Spreester was the public’s 1-2 betting favourite on Friday night as she bested longshot Bullvillestephanie (Bruce Aldrich Jr.), who finished second in her debut in the local feature, and Bye Bye Michelle (Mark Beckwith), who earned the show spot.
Spreester has displayed incredible versatility winning her four local races with four different trips after her return to town last month.
Kevin Quinn owns the seven-year-old American Ideal mare.
Live racing continues on Saturday night at Saratoga with a first post time of 6:45 p.m.
