Flirtiscape Does It At The Big M

Fresh off a win in Chester’s Open last week, odds-on favourite Flirtiscape managed to hold on by a neck to double up in the $35,000 Fillies & Mares Invitational Pace featured on Friday night at the Meadowlands Racetrack

.

The five-year-old daughter of Artiscape-Ladys A Flirt left from Post 4 and set up shop on the front-end under the guidance of Tim Tetrick. Flirtiscape led the way through panels of :27, 55:3 and 1:23.1 while Fleur De Lil A (Ron Pierce) applied pressure from first-over. The Luis Pena-trained mare kicked away by two lengths heading into the stretch, but had to fend off Knock Three Times (David Miller), who swept three-wide at three-quarters and came on for second. Flirtiscape reached the wire just in time for the win in 1:50.4. Fleur De Lil A was third.

Flirtiscape has won half of her 30 seasonal starts and earned $164,019. The 19-time winner has earned $180,529 lifetime for owners John Darrah of Pleasanton, Nick Ruscigno of San Jose and Lawrence Keethe of Stockton, California.

In other action, trainer Noel Daley earned a training triple on the nine-race program. Woodstock Hanover (1:51.1) posted a 25-1 upset in the first race with George Brennan in the bike while Woodstock (1:52.4) won his first race with Tim Tetrick in the following dash. Daley closed out the card with another win as Big Bikkies (1:53.1) and Ron Pierce pulled away by four and three-quarter lengths for the triumph.
