This Saturday in Alberta Sires Stakes action, Swiftys First Star will look to win his second straight stakes victory in the last of five Alberta Marksman divisions for three-year-old colts at Grande Prairie

.

The As Promised-Swiftys Girl gelding won his Alberta Plainsman division on July 5. After a sixth-place finish in a conditioner on August 1, Swiftys First Star was given some time off to rest before returning to the winner's circle on August 15 for trainer Rob Sabourin Jr.

“He missed the last stake [the Adios Pick on August 8] due to sickness, but he’s recovered now,” Sabourin told the Daily Herald-Tribune. “He’s training well and we’re hoping he shows up on Saturday.”

'Swifty' has drawn the rail in Race 10 for driver John Chappell and is listed as the heavy 1-2 favourite.
